My 2024 ID.7 equipment list says it has "Easy open - sensor controlled luggage compartment opening and electric closing "
It does open and close when a switch inside the car is operated and also the switch in the boot lid, But it wont open or close if I wave my foot under the rear bumper.
The dealer sales man said it doesn't have that feature.
Is this correct?
Does anyone else have ID7 with electric boot that does open hands free?

Hi, I have the same issue as you and am interested in the answer to the question.

You've beat me to asking this same question. Also listed in the spec of mine, but waggled my foot all ways, and nothing. Planned to email when I can find the enthusiasm to do so.

Hello.

As far as I know this is NOT on UK Spec cars, only in Europe. I discussed with VW Dealer.

The literature is misleading on the VW Website concerning spec but they have stated this is relating to electric tail gate! I know, pretty shoddy.

Can anybody else shed any light on this?

Certainly not a feature on my car. No amount of foot waggling opens the boot.

I read from a press release a couple of months back that VW had admitted that the detail in the marketing information didn't match the actual confirmed build spec for the UK market, and so the description was changed to reflect this. I understand that some units were built with some of the components required but with no software because that wasn't ready either. Quite the big Oopsie from VW then..

I'm delighted to have stumbled on this forum! The "Easy Open" boot was one of the features I wanted from the car when I bought it (May '24). My VW dealer hasn't been able to help on this issue. Has anyone been able to take it up with VW directly?

Hi certando. Someone in one of the ID.7 FB groups has relentlessly pursued VW since he got his car in July regarding the non-working easy open boot sensor. He cited he was mis-sold the vehicle and said the VW helpline in India were very rude to him and spoke over him. In early August he did his own research on the main FB ID.7 group and was one of the first people to discover this affected all UK RHD cars. As expected his local dealer was useless but he has kept up the pressure since at least August. After many months of updates I saw he posted last month that VW are working out a compensation package for him.
