Hi all - apologies if this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything. I'm waiting for delivery of my ID.7 tourer and I had a 7.2kW home charger fitted today. This has an app, as I imagine they all do, where you can set charging times and so on. I get 7p/kWh between 00:00 to 07:00.

So do I
a) set the charging time in both the charger app and in the charging location in the car
b) set the charger to be always on (so called plug and charge) and set in the car to only use 00:00-07:00
c) set the charger on timed and tell the car to just fill its boots as soon as I plug in which won't actually do anything until the charger reaches its "on" time.

or does none of this matter and all of the above will essentially do the same thing?

Hi Xenon,
Must admit all i do is set charger to always on and set the car to only use my preferred times, which are 00:00-05:00 . This works perfectly for me.

Yes, all three will work.

VW recommend not charging above 80% (unless you need to for your journey), so you should factor that in too.

Which supplier are you with?

The charger only works between the hours I want. The vehicle is set to charge to 100% so I maximize the winter range.
At 7.2kw you won’t need to worry about preconditioning the battery before charging.
