Hi,
New joiner and first time EV owner with our ID7 Pro Tourer delivered last week. Headline (like many) is that it's a wonderful car (and a big change from our 8 year old Alhambra!) but understanding charging and range is proving a headache. Home set up is with Octopus Intelligent Go tariff with Ohme Home Pro charger.

Did an initial charge to 80% as widely advised and that gave a range of 240 miles. Did a charge to 100% last night and car only charged to 208 miles (@ 80%). Boosted the charge to 100% and now fully charged is showing range of 268. Did a first long run in the car yesterday (Leeds - Spennymoor ret) at a fairly constant 70mph on A1M but otherwise has been gentle pottering around the neighbourhood. I know the current temperatures a low, and the car has the 20' wheels but the current range seems a long way off the promised 375 or even 300!

Many other questions, but starting with this! Any thoughts?

Hi, I'm new to ID7's also but a couple of key points IMHO to help shed some light:

Firstly the official range quoted by manufacturers is always optimistic. The standard test regime has moved closer to real world use, but still remains some considerable way off. Best to consult Which? or some other independent to understand the true range / fuel economy of cars as their tests are much more realistic.

Second, outside temperature plays a major role in EV range. With combustion engined cars, waste heat is available in abundance to heat the cabin & anything else but EV's just use electricity & cabin heating (sometimes battery heating on some cars - not sure about ID7) is a big consumer of battery energy, which of course reduces range.

You can expect better range in the warmer months but better to set expectations to 300 miles rather than 375 & press that accelerator pedal like there's an egg under it!

PS speed is also a big factor, so expect better range at 60mph (or 50/40/30!!) than 70mph as air resistance dramatically increases with increasing speed.
